The 11th Missouri Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. ==Service== The 11th Missouri Infantry was organized at Jefferson Barracks at St. Louis, Missouri, and mustered in for three years on August 6, 1861.〔Belcher, pp9-10〕 In its early history, the regiment was known as the "Missouri Rifles".〔The organization which evolved into the 11th Missouri was originally known as the "1st Missouri Rifle Battalion". This unit was subsequently expanded into the 11th Missouri Volunteer Infantry, but the name "Missouri Rifles" continued in use in some organizational records though 1861. Belcher, p10〕 Moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, August 16, 1861.
